Industry knowledge :What are the main characteristics and causes of common forging defects?
The main features: improper processing of die forging will cause surface roughness and scale scar. When forging austenitic and martensitic stainless steel, it is easy to produce such rough scale scar. Reasons as follows,Uneven lubrication or improper selection of lubricating oil types and poor quality of lubricating oil can cause local mucous membranes.
Cylinder forging process precautions
Cylinder forgings are made by melting, recrystallization, forging and heat treatment of steel ingot. The final quality of the cylinder forgings is determined by factors such as ingot structure, hot deformation, forging heat, forging process parameters, forging equipment and forging operation process.
Method for liquid penetrant inspection of large forgings
Liquid penetrant testing is a method for detecting open defects on the surface of large forgings. The process of this method can be summarized as: evenly coat the surface of the inspected workpiece with a material called penetrant, make it penetrate into the defect, remove the excess penetrant after an appropriate time, dry the workpiece, and then use the developer to suck out the penetrant that penetrated into the defect, and then determine whether there are traces on the surface of the inspected workpiece through appropriate observation.
